Three basic types of laxatives exist: osmotic, bulk-forming and stimulant.
Osmotic laxatives increase the amount of water that stays in the intestinal contents as they pass through the intestines.
Bulk-forming laxatives feature fiber supplements that increase the bulk and water contents of the stool and encourage healthy bowel activity.
Stimulant laxatives stimulate the muscle contractions along the intestinal tract.

How It Works
Magnesium
Magnesium hydroxide is a natural salt of magnesium. It is commonly used as a gentle laxative to treat occasional constipation. Magnesium hydroxide causes water to be retained with the stool, increasing the number of bowel movements and helping to soften the stool so it's easier to pass. In general, magnesium helps muscles relax and has a soothing effect on the bowel.
Triphala
Triphala, a prominent herbal blend featured in Ayurveda for over 1,000 years, is classified as a tridoshic rasayana that promotes longevity and rejuvenation. Triphala extract is an Ayurvedic combination of dried fruits considered a “health harmonizer.” Traditionally, triphala is used as a gentle laxative that supports digestive and intestinal health. Touted for its support of the gastrointestinal tract, this combination of rejuvenative herbs has been applied to many traditional uses. Recent studies have also looked into a number of other potential applications, including antioxidant, immune and adaptogenic support.
Ginger
Ginger has been used as both food and medicine in Asia for thousands of years. Traditionally, ginger helped with a laundry list of complaints, including cold, fever, joint discomfort, aches, cramps, circulatory health, and digestive complaints. Researchers have found that ginger may help settle the stomach during times of occasional nausea, motion sickness and morning sickness. Ginger also helps soothe intestinal irritation and promotes a healthy inflammatory response. Ginger has been shown to help reduce gut irritation and support intestinal healing.
Marshmallow
Marshmallow root is well-known for its soothing properties, especially for the mucous membranes. Marshmallow naturally contains mucilage, which provides demulcent (soothing) effects on the digestive and intestinal systems. Since the stomach and intestines are lined with these protective membranes, marshmallow eases irritation in the gastrointestinal tract and may help counteract excess stomach acid. Marshmallow is also considered mildly laxative and is often used for various intestinal conditions. Plus, marshmallow contains pectin fiber that is capable of carrying a host of substances out of the body that often collect or stick to the mucous membranes.
Slippery Elm
Slippery elm is a species of elm native to eastern North America. Slippery elm contains up to 50% mucilage, which supports delicate body tissues. When mixed with water, the soft, inner bark of the slippery elm tree becomes gel-like and soothing. Slippery elm has been used traditionally to support the digestive system and the mucosal lining of the gut. It also absorbs toxins from the bowel and helps maintain normal elimination. In the 1800s, Native Americans used slippery elm for a variety of benefits, including support for gastrointestinaI tract health to soothe intestinal tissues and for digestive and immune support.

Magnesium (hydroxide) in a proprietary blend of Triphala Ayurvedic blend fruit extract, Ginger rhizome, Marshmallow root extract and Slippery elm inner bark.
Quality
Wildcrafted and sustainably sourced by hand, our non-GMO slippery elm is collected from forests across eastern North America and tested to ensure both purity and potency.
Additionally, we’ve partnered with the same supplier for our non-GMO Triphala fruit extract for over 10 years. They work with local collectors, many of whom are women, to harvest the Amalaki, Bibhitaki and Haritaki used in our triphala blend.
Recommended Use
Maintenance: Take 2 capsules before bedtime.
In times of irregularity and bowel distress: Take 2 capsules up to three times daily for up to 7-10 days.
